About Elena

Elena Marchetti spent the first decade of her dietetics career in private practice in Brooklyn, where the same questions kept showing up across three demographics: 30-something women who couldn’t out-exercise a new pound, 40-somethings who’d hit perimenopause without warning, and 50-somethings asking which of the dozen detox products in their cart actually had research behind them.

She came to editorial work because answering those questions one-on-one wasn’t scaling.

Today she leads weghtloss.com’s coverage of women’s nutrition, with a particular focus on the hormonal shifts behind belly-fat accumulation after 35, the gut-microbiome literature, and the supplement landscape where overpriced placebos vastly outnumber products that actually work.

Her editorial principle is simple: if the study isn’t on PubMed and the dose in the bottle isn’t on the label, it doesn’t deserve the consumer’s money.

Outside writing, she’s working on a long-form essay about why nutrition advice for women under 40 is mostly invisible in the medical literature — and what that costs.
